How to work
- Start high and finish low: fans and shelves first, floors last.
- Do dry work (dusting, vacuuming) before wet work (wiping, mopping).
- Let bathroom and kitchen cleaners sit a few minutes before you scrub.
- Finish one room completely before moving to the next.
Kitchen
- Wipe cabinet fronts, handles and the top of the cabinets
- Clean inside the microwave and wipe the range hood and filter
- Degrease the backsplash and stovetop, including knobs
- Wipe the outside of the fridge, oven and dishwasher, including the door seals
- Scrub the sink and polish the faucet
- Wipe light switches and outlet covers
- Sweep and mop, including under the edges of the cabinets
Bathrooms
- Scrub the shower, tub and grout, and remove hard water spots on glass
- Clean the toilet inside and out, including the base and behind it
- Wipe cabinet fronts and clean the mirror
- Dust the exhaust fan cover and light fixtures
- Wipe baseboards and the back of the door
- Mop the floor, getting into the corners
Bedrooms and living areas
- Dust ceiling fans, light fixtures and air vents
- Dust blinds and wipe window sills and tracks
- Wipe baseboards, door frames, doors and light switches
- Dust shelves, frames, decor and electronics
- Vacuum upholstery and under cushions
- Move light furniture and vacuum or mop underneath
Last touches
- Empty every trash can and replace liners
- Wipe down entry doors and the doorbell area
- Take a final walk-through with fresh eyes
